Why do y'all think the number of never Trump Republicans is only growing?

Trump has ruined the Republican Party/GOP completely. At this point, the Republican Party is the American Fascist Party. Trump isn't even a great, good, average, or below average leader to pledge allegiance to like that.

In the past, Conservatism worked on dog whistles and code language. Trump threw that shyt out the window, he's being blatant with the racism and flaunting endless corruption in your faces.

Also, please note all the white nationalist/white supremacists/neo-nazis/neo-confederates/flat earthers/birthers/climate change deniers/anti-science/and anti vaxxers/conspiracy theory nuts now being embraced by the Republican party and Trump directly. Not to mention these christo fascists (aka white evangelicals) too that believe preserving America as a white patriachal christian nation is more important than anything. This is now the party of doom, death, and destruction.

They'll be fine for the same reason that Trump is still supported...Republicans rally behind whoever.
It's how theyre able to keep winning elections despite basically being a minority party.
nah, the trajectory theyre on is a death spiral. if texas really flips by 2030 they're finished

its early, but in a decade its a serious convo. think how many angry white republican voters will have died in a decade :dead:

Reflection of how far to the right the party, parts of the country, politics has moved.

I can reasonably discuss with NY Times Republicans, or RINO Republicans, or whatever, but this isn't that. I have to move in those circles, and I know Trump supporters, and they are undeterred, but there are some who are wavering, or even feeling foolish after his latest debacle.

Should note, the ones I know were never foaming at mouth supporters. Others, I know, are embarrassed, but are so terrified of socialism, they will support him.

I know plenty of republicans through work that are ridged backed for Trump now because they don’t think the dems and the liberal media have been fair with him and they are triggered by thoughts of socialism.

I also have met a bunch who are embarrassed by him, and I’m constantly surprised by who falls into either bucket.

Republicans will be fine. Our form of representative government keeps them safe.

with modern technology and the dissolution of major manufacturing there's really nothing keeping conservatives from amassing power in their regressive strongholds outside of voter suppression and voter apathy.

He won by the lowest percentage of popular vote in a two person race.(46%)

Politically, the only thing that gives me solace is that this brand of conservatism will not last.

Trump is their last hurrah and he fukked it up royally.
Yeah, California Republicans did the same shyt in the 1990s with Governor Pete Wilson. Proposition 187 in 1994 worked, Wilson was re-elected easily and the GOP swept up seats in the California Legislature...but that was only a short term victory.

Since Wilson left office in 1999, there have been 3 Democratic governors, only 1 Republican (Arnold - who was very moderate and won largely because of his celebrity status). Also, Democrats dominate California's Legislature and the CA GOP is going more and more extinct by the day.

Unfortunately, even if Trump is defeated in November, he obviously has caused more lasting damage nationally (and globally) than Pete Wilson did in California :francis:.
