We are actively losing soft and economic power to "grow" our military power, with zero results. Allies are turning to China, China is economically invading Europe/Africa/South America and all China had to do sign deals. It took us 80 years to rule the world and China is catching up in less than 20 years. These are the death throes of an empire.
