Corino was one of those wrestlers that innovated, yet will never get his due :francis:

. Dude's work in ECW was bar none as he did the whole old school heel gimmick with a new school twist. The fact that he barely cursed in that promotion in front of a bunch of blood foaming crowds made the shyt seem :wow:

. His ring work is meh, but the psychology made you overlook such flaws. Bottom like, Corino gets a 8 for birthing wrestlers like Adam Cole and carried the tradition of shyt heel gimmicks that would get you ran out of a high school gym :banderas:

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Steve was easily my favorite ECW Champion ever. He almost never had a bad match during his tenure there, he was a great brawler (his blading was WAY too excessive sometimes tho), and played the role of a chickenshyt heel tremendously.

I think a lot of people's memories of his career resonate with his last ROH run, which admittedly was :flabbynsick:

right near the end, but the stuff he was doing from 2002 - 2005 was fire. Especially his blood feud with Homicide. :wow:

Far from the perfect performer, but I'll give him an 8 based on staying consistently entertaining through most of his career.

It's funny that people still buy into the "King of Old School" gimmick 20 years later when it was an ironic gimmick from the jump. You can literally count one one hand when he did old school style matches or even having matches with solid psychology. He was just a decent brawler/bumper/bleeder who could talk that shyt at will, but also doesn't really have any stand out promos despite that really being the thing he's most known for.

He was clearly given his spot at the end of ECW because he was the only guy left, his Japan work was bleh as hell, and in fact I'd say it was Gabe's treatment of anyone from ECW as a legend that did more for his career long term than his actual time in ECW.

I'd go 8. His ECW run was pretty damn good. His gimmick of being an "old school" wrestler in an organization obsessed with presenting itsepf as fresh and new was great. Especially since he was a stark contrast to people like Buh Buh Ray Dudley who got heat by being filthy on the mic and flat out attempting to incite incidents.

That promo he cut on Dreamer at Heatwave 99 telling him to admit his back was done was :wow:

Couldn’t give him more than a 6, cause CM Punk (who I gave an 8) took everything Corino did and made it far better (just like Sabu/Jeff Hardy). He was a pretty basic wrestler masked by a very good standout gimmick and very good promos. He was a stark contrast to a lot of the other ECW gimmicks, which made him very notable. I only vaguely remember his actual matches, but I do remember looking forward to when he was on my screen and in magazines. Very favorable 6.

When he use to make the ring announcer read out every single title he had won. :russ:

On Corino shoots when he imitates Sheiky Baby :dead:

he has some great stories.

I thinking it was in MLW, when Corino torched Shane Douglas on the mic. But cannot find it, it was up on YT about a year ago.

Corino was an effective heel, can take a beating and bleed like he in a slaughter house.
