TSC fill me in on Cena's transformation from heel to face

i stop watching wrestling after the WCW merge. I would occasionally watch it now & then. When I did watch Cena was a silly goofy Heel in 2003. I got back into it in 2013. Cena was what we kno now. How long was the transition?

Douche bag rapper gimmick starting getting face reactions, and became an underdog-type.

crowd turned him babyface since most of his freestyles ended up becoming more on the light hearted/joking side. By the time he beat Big Show at Mania for the US title he was a full babyface...so it happened throughout the course of a year or so

When Cena faced off with Lesnar at Backlash 2003, his home state cheered for him over Lesnar most of the match. He started getting slick with the written raps for the rest of the year...got cheered hard against Mysterio at one point. Got heat but the cheers were getting overwhelming. He faced off with Angle and they were doing that Let's go Angle/Cena shyt. He faced off with Taker and the crowd wouldn't cheer against Taker...did the US title thing with Eddie and the crowd stayed with Eddie because his lying, cheating, and stealing gimmick was on FIRE fall of 2003.

At Survivor Series 03, it was Team Angle vs Team Lesnar. Cena was a main plot and was recruited but went Team Angle and has been face ever since. He went from losing most of his top matches as heel to becoming almost unstoppable..winning as much as Shelton was on Raw as IC Champion when he got the US title. He did a job for Carlito's debut but left television to film the Marine..came back for Survivor Series 04 on Team Guerrero and crushed the Carlito sidekick "Jesus" who tried to kill him or some weird $hit. Lost the Rumble to Batista in a face off but was still pushed on top towards JBL(who had gotten by Eddie, Taker, Angle, and Booker over the last half year).

That's not entirely accurate. I was in the crowd at Backlash 2003 and it was a mixed reaction for both Lesnar and Cena. It wasn't really a hot match either. But Cena had started to get face reactions prior to that match. He was pretty over during the tournament leading up to it. The match wasn't too hot because everyone knew Cena wasn't in Lesnar's class yet.

Cena didn't start getting boos as a face until the feuds with Jericho and Angle, especially Angle because everyone was pissed that Cena was outwrestling an Olympic gold medalist

Not accurate...I own that dvd. They cheered for Cena..got behind certain spots but were definitely behind Cena more...crowd was crazy for Eddie earlier.....crowd turned on Goldberg real tough. Seen that ppv like 4 or 5x.

I Haven't Watched Wrestling In Forever But I Think He Dressed Up As Vanilla Ice For A Halloween Party Skit And The Fans Loved It So He Ran With It And It Evolved To Him Being Serious With The Rap Thing

He debuted the look on the Halloween 2002 Smackdown to no reaction...crowd didn't really react to him all that much until the build to Backlash 2003. He challenged Jay Z and Enimem to a freestyle battle at WM 19 and they didn't give that any attention at all.
