The legend of a 2pac is bigger than hip hop...since his death a mythology and cult of personality has been built up around him...during his life, he was primarily contained within the world of hip hop (even his burgeoning acting career was still kind of prefaced as that rapper that acts)... he wasn't as transcendent as say a Jay or Em are today...but yeah since his death, the idea of 2pac has become bigger than hip hop and he's an american cultural icon...but no, not the only one...I think Jay and Puff are there too, Will Smith like somebody else said...
