Yes, if the US had a president that had its interests at heart, he would remain silent, let the market punish Erdogan's poor economic policy and offer empty, rhetorical support.

Trump’s diplomatic idiocy is going to push Qatar,Russia,Turkey,China and Iran into an axis against the US,GCC,and Europe. Erdogan could strike back by opening the refugee flood gates into Europe. Launch a massive military operation against the US backed Kurds in Syria. Withdraw from NATO and get closer to Russia and China which would have far reaching geopolitical ramifications way after Trump is in office. I said the day Trump got elected that he would accelerate America’s decline. And everything he is doing is that. Looking back Russia and Iran’s support for Erdogan during the coup is starting to pay off.
