"Finally, Lucy Aylmer put paid to furore in a lengthy Facebook post, stating: “Myself, my twin sister and our mother took no offence to Samantha Armytage's ‘good on her’ comment.

“We believe she did not mean this as a racial comment and we have taken no personal offence to it."

“We do not think it was necessary for her to apologize and I apologize to her for any distress it may have caused. We know what Samantha meant and that's all that matters to us so we would appreciate it if people would stop making this our problem.”

These guys are using the word "racism". Which is why many people think racism is name calling or extremism. When you say racism that's what comes to most people's mind because these are the situations the word is always attached to instead of institutional problems which is what's affecting black people. I seriously didn't give a fukk what this bytch thought, imo wasn't even thread worthy.
Go fukk youreself

She is so damn spitefully and deeply racist not just for that fair skin comment but look at her demeanor and tone while describing their Jamaican mother, she even stuttered to get "brown eyes out". It's like she was speaking with pure disgust and instantly switched to sunny side up when she started to describe the father.....

That shyt was priceless :russ:

This is why I refrained from taking up for the "Black" sister. Being the daughter of a black woman and a white man, they're all probably on that :mjpls: tip.

Yes because if she was from a Black man white female relationship--perhaps a white woman like the news anchor herself--this would never happen.

.............. :dahell:I think you're overstating the amount.

I don't actually have any right wing friends :scusthov:, nor do I associate/interact with them much in person, so I don't see much of it.
Also I don't think one morning talk show host is a representative sample :dahell: especially since you could see the other host was taken aback by the comment.

I think it's an absurd generalisation to make if you don't live in Australia. :aicmon:
Then again I live in Melbourne, one of the best cities in the world, and within like half an hour of the CBD. I'm sure there are a significantly higher proportion of racists in other cities/towns around the country, especially further inland.

Maybe @isthisreallife has more experience to make a judgement on it, I think he is out of school/uni. And he's ethiopian so he'll know first hand, instead of me going off how I've seen any of my "black"/indian/asian friends treated.

One in five people living in Australia have experienced racist abuse
  • During the past year, 1 in 5 people living in Australia was a target of racial discrimination (around 4.6 million people). This is an increase from 1 in 8 the previous year (Source).
  • 1 in 5 people living in Australia has been a target of verbal racial abuse (Source). Verbal abuse is the most common form of racism (Source).
  • Nearly half of all Australian residents from a culturally and linguistically diverse background have experienced racism at some time in their life (Source).
  • 7 in 10 teenagers have experienced racism (Source).
  • 3 in 4 Indigenous Australians regularly experience racism (Source).
Denial of racism in Australia
Australia has a culture of denial when it comes to racism. We’ve created an infographic to explain this simply. It is based on the findings in the report Denial of racism and its implication for location action by Jacqueline Nelson, University of Western Sydney, 2013.

Denial of racism in Australia perpetuates racist behaviour (Source). Speaking up reduces racism by helping perpetrators understand that their views are in the minority (Source), making them less likely to engage in prejudice and stereotyping behaviour (Source).

well, her mother is a Jamaican bedwench so I'm sure she herself agreed with the comments.

on a side note, what is it about Jamaicans and their skin tone disparities with their siblings??

you could have a Jamaican chick who is like Whoopi Goldberg or even Michelle Obama's complexion yet she has a brother or sister that's super High yella with curly hair.

They got some crazy genetics.

There's a bunch of mixing throughout the history and those recessive genes are wild.
