Like @Dotcom said, in any other art form, not writing your own shyt is unacceptable.

As a producer myself, if my beats/tracks weren't made by me and I had reached a certain level of fame...and somebody found out and I was exposed that would be the end of my career. Basically, I would be just a figure behind music while someone else made it. And I had NOTHING to do with it other than put a face to it.

So why should it fly in hip-hop? It shouldn't.

I just wish I had heard of Quentin Miller without this....he has great music. But it frustrates me knowing that this industry really doesn't push genuine talent like that but what is "marketable".
truth... The artist will continue to be unheard because of this reason, and the person with the industry power, or money will continue to grow and buy out the artist for theyre concepts or creative mind flow. I feel like everyone with talent deserves to be heard and this will make alot of great or could been great people not be able to blossom at all..or be forever unheard of..truth

:stopitslime:should africa be happy cacs have pillaged the mother land because a few sellouts of color have prospered from it? Answer that... Money cant erase the fact the vultures monetary value to a handful of people has zero value when you smart enough to know the long term consequences of Kirby's morphing and subsequent whitewashing of a music genre.
lol @ this being an argument, don't take this to an extreme. Most people sold THEIR songs, meaning THEIR intellectual property, to a guy who decided to use them and attempt to appeal at a wider fanbase.

If this is truly your case then you should erase every Hip Hop artist that brags about guns or drugs from your library, because they have sold out worse than innocent Aubrey who is existing in a corporate machine. I agree with what Mr. Vegas said, but at the same time, you have to make your own lane if you want to still exist. Did these dudes really think the game would always be the same? Rappers have been inventing new hustles for the longest, just to stay relevant, so stop trying to play me.

That's such a lie and misconception, great artists have always been skipped over, cough cough Pete Rock and INI's Center of Attention album, but through the internet we're able to discover and rediscover new and old music, and an infinite amount of artists.

The problem is you wanna be force fed.

I didn't ask "why don't you take drake serious" I said why are you mad at him for putting money in someone else's pocket?

None of you guys can answer that, and the fact remains

Thread is pants-on-head retarded. :snoop:

"Hey guys, Drake fronted like he wrote all his own shyt....but at least he's paying his ghost writers. That's good for something, right? Right?"
