Honestly, most people don't know shyt about aesthetics, so a girl in shape in America is seen as being out of the league of some plain looking guy, they both look plain looking. Cheerleading squads aren't selecting for high cheekbones and distinct features, they are selecting people who have done cheerleading in their past, which is open to any girl that can perform the routines.
