of his team's personnel. The Eagles tried it last season with Chip Kelly and it failed miserably with many of his players being traded this offseason.

There's a reason other teams don't give their head coaches power to make personnel decisions: it's hard. Yet, Belichick has done an admirable job with it, leading the Patriots to four Super Bowls since joining the franchise in 2000.

Even though his success is unarguable, one of his former players believes Belichick left rings on the table due to his decisions. Ty Law made the questionable statement shortly after the Patriots pulled off a blockbuster trade involving Chandler Jones.

He thinks Belichick has been too quick to cut veteran players.

"I think it has cost them championships," Law said, via ProFootballTalk. "I think they let go of too many guys who can rally the troops and win Super Bowls."

Belichick and Kraft are on the record stating they operate on a 3-year plan at all times. They often get rid of players early (like they just did with Chandler) when they see over a couple years they won't be able to keep all their pieces, like re-signing Butler, Chandler, Collins and Hightower all at once.

This strategy has definitley cost the Patriots championships but it's probably also the reason they win 12-14 games every single year since 2002.

Ty Law and Lawyer Milloy were def 2 of the riskier ones, but you cant keep everyone and once you start winning other teams want your starters

i dont agree with the return for Chandler, but i understand why they are doing it. Butler and Collins are 12-14m players on next years open market, and Hightower wont be cheap either

Vets cost money. Money that's used to bring in 5 no names who keep the offense going and lineman. Bellicheck is a defensive coach, he knows that you can scheme averagely skilled guys into solid defense as long as they can tackle. You can't scheme a blindside o-line or catch.

Did it cost them Superbowls? Maybe but at the same time it kept them competitive and Tom Brady not injured.

They would have won a Super Bowl in 2012 if the receivers didn't drop the ball. They didn't win the Super Bowl this year because of the line.I agree the Richard Seymour move was risky but you know what Forget Ty Law
