Do you have a problem if your favorite player is wearing a hat of another team?
I sort of do.
This summer, placed above the face of the Denver Nuggets has been a hat of the Orlando Magic. And the Toronto Raptors.
No, this is not Armageddon-gate-nado. But if I'm a Nuggets fan, I'm mildly miffed that Ty Lawson is wearing hats of other NBA teams. It's an image thing. You're the Nuggets stud point guard — you ARE the Nuggets. Repping another team just looks like you're not all in. The fans are devoted to the Nuggets and the fans spend hard-earned money to buy Nuggets tickets, jerseys and, yes, even hats — and the Nuggets themselves are wearing hats of the other teams?
And what does the image of Ty in a Magic hat say to Nuggets ownership, to the folks that gave Ty a huge contract extension?
Now, snapback culture is prominent in sports. Many athletes have been spotted wearing '90s-style colorful caps, the ones that aren't fitted but instead have the snaps on the back. People often wear these hats simply to match the colors of their outfits, thus the actual words on the hat are irrelevant. It's become hip (I'm so un-hip that I use "hip") to wear hats with somewhat ugly or dated 1990s team logos (the Vancouver Grizzlies come to mind, no offense Bryant "Big Country" Reeves).
Look, there is no way that Tywon Lawson is actually a fan of the Magic or Raptors and makes sure to DVR their games and roots wildly every time DeMar DeRozan makes a jumper. My guess is Ty just wore the hats because they looked cool. He probably didn't think twice that wearing that hat would be disrespectful to anyone in Denver.
And wearing another team's hat in the middle of the offseason is not going to affect Ty's passion and focus in actual games against the Magic or Raptors.
I'm just saying: What's the point in wearing the hat? Just put on an NFL hat. A CFL hat. Whatever. Just know that when you're the face of the franchise, figuratively, people are going to be looking at your face, literallly.

if you're a professional athlete you should not rock gear of ANY other team

have some dignity and respect for yourself
I don't really have a problem with it, but it doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do. If you're getting paid millions of dollars from a team, you probably shouldn't wear any gear from other teams in your sport.

Just stick to different sports. Unless you're LeBron, who catches shyt for everything. Yall remember that Bron/Yankees shyt? :heh:

Iggy snitching to Mark Jackson and participating in his prayer circle during the playoffs, that pissed me off.

Lawson wearing a Raptors hat during the summer = biggest non-story of the offseason.

It is kind of pathetic these owners are paying these athletes millions of dollars to play a fukking sport, only for the morons to go and put on the apparel of an opposing team. Its both disrespectful to the fans and the owners paying their fukking salaries.

Imagine a nikka working at Mcdonalds rocking a Jack in the Box uniform to work.

...except that Lawson isn't wearing a Raptors jersey when he steps onto the court as a nuggets player.

If a McDonald's employee chooses to wear a Jack in the Box hat when he's not working and you see him rockin' it at the mall, why do you care?

Athletes are public figures and celebrities. They get paid to wear shyt ALL THE TIME both in and out of work. There is a reason that when Nike gives a nikka a contract to wear shoes, they FORBID them to wear any other brands BOTH AT AND AWAY FROM WORK. Athletes are ALWAYS being watched. Its important they represent themselves appropriately all the time, because people are always watching them. Stop playing stupid because you want to defend the ignorant behavior of your favorite athlete.

Find one post indicating my favorite athlete is Ty Lawson.

Before you jump to any further conclusions, maybe you should think for yourself and not be concerned about watching someone outside of their job. You and the rest of the general public are the problem - not the athletes.
