Was it their first kid? It's easier for women to have kids later in life if they have a child earlier. Something about the body already having gone thru the process.

Is she having trouble with infertility for the past 16 years? Or did she have no desire to raise a family at 24 (for the reasons she mentioned) and now that she is 41 she is realizing that she is infertile?

Regardless, infertility sucks, but this is making seem like she was infertile from age 24, when it was really a choice not to have children

Life's about choices. Folks decide to let relationships end when they're young then cry about it later when they're old and lonely. They choose to get that paper instead of starting a family then cry later when they don't have kids. Other people start a family then cry later when they don't have paper. I've got older family that don't have kids and are emotional about it but they all had relationships they ended for one reason or another when they were young.
