Just a random piece of info. Just checked out a dope podcast on the history of Rocafella. Busta never laid the vocals, and Prodigy was about to record his, but some shyt popped up and he had to run.

Also, Cam'ron rapped over Izzo and then saw Jay perform it live on the MTV Awards and was pissed off.

Oh Boy was held for Just Blaze for well over a year and Cam'ron and them eventually snagged it and rapped on it and took it straight to radio before the sample cleared.

Takeover was originally for Beanie Sigel. Heart of the City was originally for DMX. Izzo was originally for Ghostface. Girls Girls Girls was also for Ghostface.

Also, the original State Property album was supposed to be a Beans and Bleek album, but Freeway quietly and politely asked Just Blaze for a beat, and did his part of Roc The Mic.

You Me Him Her was the first song recorded for Dynasty, and the first song recorded in Bassline Studios. Jay recorded most of The Dynasty in one night, and left spaces all over the album for Beans and Bleek.

Jay recorded Heart of the City, Never Change, Izzo, Girls Girls Girls, and U Don't Know over a weekend.

Solid podcast. Never heard of these dudes before, but they brought out Biggs, Young Guru, Just Blaze, Hip-Hop, Gee Roberson, Freeway, Jim Jones, Neef, and some others from Rocafella history.

Didnt know Takeover was for Beans. I can imagine delivery on it though
Same. Apparently it was for The Reason but by the time he got the beat, there wasn't enough budget left to clear the sample, because it was a Doors sample.

It reminded Beanie of The Truth.

Just Blaze also said Blueprint 2 was supposed to be all produced by one producer, and then the next day Jay said he didn't like the beats submitted, but he did the day before because they were played super loud and got him hyped up. They didn't say who the producer was.

Hip-Hop got put onto Just Blaze because he was told "He's got beats that sound like Swizz Beatz with no samples and he only charges 5k per beat." :heh: Just Blaze sounded annoyed at that part of the story, and he got picked on for most of the podcast for being long-winded in his stories.

Oh yeah, they ALL said that Bleek passed on so many fire beats over the years, and it got to the point where Young Guru had to step in and was like, "That's one of my best friends, ya'll can't keep clowning him like that."

Also, this Alchemist beat was originally for Beanie as well

so izzo was originally for ghost then cam took it? only to have jay swipe it?
Yep. Kanye would make beats with people in mind, and Ghost was his choice for that. Cam swiped it eventually, and didn't even know Jay had recorded to it, and then Jay debuted the song that night at the MTV Awards.

Was this HNIC era Prodigy? Or Infamy era?
If HNIC era Prodigy got it, it would have been :wow:
HNIC Prodigy.

:wow:

P ended up only using Diamond, which Just Blaze also did.

They also said U Don't Know was played for Jadakiss too, but he ended up using It;s Time I See You instead

Agreed.

Supposedly he thought Alc was the engineer and when he came into the studio he told Alc to roll up the weed for him .
:mjlol:

:prodigylol:
In his book, Prodigy said he assumed he was undercover police :pdahell2:
He thought the feds were learning how to make beats to get to him :prodigylol:

What's another dope story they told on here...Kanye swiped Young Guru's Lauryn Hill CD and came back a few hours later with an early version of All Falls Down beat. he said he heard that and Jesus Walks and then realized that Kanye was ready...after years of listening to him rap full verses and hooks with every beat that he brought to the table.
