Unfortunately, the state is heavily gerrymandered and ultimately controlled by a few backwoods hicks. Factor in a state Democratic Party that was poorly run for a long time (namely, not seriously contesting seats and/or weak ground game), outside dark money, plus compromised local media, and you end up with a pack of right-wing ideologues on the Supreme Court.

Evers trying to expand I-94 by Miller Park & the VA hospital instead of using that money to build a commuter train line. They was suppose to expand Metra from Kenosha to Milwaukee but Walker shut that down and opted to expand the freeway. The feds even gave them millions to do it too
