Uber says gave U.S. agencies data on more than 12 million users

The privately held company, valued at more than $60 billion, said the agencies requested information on trips, trip requests, pickup and dropoff areas, fares, vehicles, and drivers.

Uber said it got 415 requests from law enforcement agencies, a majority of which came from state governments, and that it was able to provide data in nearly 85 percent of the cases.

Not surprised though.

On the one hand I use uber all the time so ive benefitted from Government R and D once again... On the other hand maybe civilian branches of the Government shouldnt have venture capital firms?

Well googles origins along eith FB and Amazon are well documented... But as far as them being 3 letter boys in 2016? That was proven with PRISM. Every company is givig back doors to the US government including Apple. The only reason they dont wanna open their phone for the gov in this case is that the phone unlock hack will cause a major recall in the ios system. Every tech/telecom has the boys in it now.
