Now, Ubisoft has revealed part of the reason why it continues to add microtransactions to premium games in its most recent annual financial report (spotted by GamesRadar). According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, microtransactions "make the player experience more fun" because players can "personalize their avatars or progress more quickly." The CEO also stressed that microtransactions are “always optional,” indicating that gamers who don't like them can just ignore them.

I hate watching these developers artificially inflate the grind of their games to make their microtransactions more tempting. There's nothing "fun" about this shyt in paid titles. Ubisoft does that in their Assassins Creed games, but nobody's worse about this than 2K Sports.

I don't love watching game prices rise to $70/80, but I'll take it over this microtransaction slop.

I don't mind the microtransactions. I just hope its helping support the crew, like the developers and artists etc. and not just the company's bottom line
Microtransactions works better when the game has no limits off the base game experience.

Rimworld a prime example of being a legit full game, but the dlc adds a whole new experience

Making the original experience a chore and then adding microtransactions behind normal progress is not fun, its greed and people do it out of necessity not because they enjoy doing it.

I don't know if I count DLC as a microtransaction but that is the only thing I would ever pay for. Back in the day that was very common and done well, and did make the experience more fun.

I'd say DLC and add ons can make a game more fun, but applying this argument to all micro transactions, or using it to justify the cost is wild.
DLC isn’t a microtransaction; they’re just a transparent deal on content you can choose to enjoy or pass.

Microtransactions are typically the purchase of a virtual currency for cosmetics or mechanics that accelerate game progress.
