[Tutorial] Restoring access to uBO on Chrome 138 using flags - video tutorial

Posted on Fri Jul 11 12:12:06 2025 UTC

It should be possible to also restore it on Chrome 139 using the "unexpire m138" flag that will be available in it, but starting 140 the flags are reported to be gone.

It might be possible to temporarily restore access on 140 using a Chrome Web Store migration plan? · uBlockOrigin uBlock-issues · Discussion #2977, but we don't know how long that's gonna last.

It's best to treat these options as the way to restore access just to backup your custom settings and then grit your teeth and make the switch to another browser or another extension.

uBO Lite might be a good replacement for some people, but it's never going to have all the same capabilities as uBO. This is a framework limit that can't be overcome.
Element picker is currently being developed. Its current version is much more simplistic than uBO's, but future versions are supposed to bring it more in line with the original.

Yup. Seems like switching is quite literally the only option.

Before I updated it was annoying AF going on streameast type of sites and get a drop down ad with a topless PAWG saying "milfs in my ____ FL town looking for a good time" would have me like :snoop:

Like damn I'm just trying to watch the Knicks :gucci:

Limitations of uBO Lite (uBOL) compared to uBO:

Filters are only updated when a new uBOL version is published, and there is no fetching of up-to-date lists from servers. This reduces the effectiveness of uBOL compared to uBO.
Many filters are dropped at conversion time due to MV3's limited filter syntax. This further reduces the effectiveness of uBOL compared to uBO.
No crafting of custom style-based or procedural cosmetic filters, only plain CSS-based filters are currently supported
No Dashboard: Filter lists
No Per site switches
No Dynamic filtering

For more details, see the FAQ for uBOL: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

the original version doesn't work on chrome anymore, but ublock origin lite does, and it works EXACTLY the same.

So far this is working good.

That Google CEO is something else. This week they took features from Google Home and upped the subscription price of Google Nest Cam by 30% with LESS support and features than it had a few years ago.

I've been using Ublock lite but the last week or so i\ve been getting logged out of google during running videos. It's not the cookie because the username is being remembered still. And now they're doing the whole few seconds before a video actually starts thing. Annoying but no ads being shown at least.
