This is a really solid card.

I think Gane finishes Jon Jones. I really think Jon is going to come in with a wrestling-heavy approach and will be shocked when he struggles to take Gane down. Moreover, Gane is actually a skilled grappler. He just hasn't had to use it much in the UFC because he has elite footwork. I'd say after the 3rd round of spamming shots, Jones gets tired from carrying the extra weight and Gane finishes him.

Other picks:

Shevchenko (UD)
Shavkat Rakhmonov (KO)
Mateusz Gamrot (Sub)
Bo Nickal (Sub)

I agree. Also, the idea of what Jones was and the reality of what he's been the last two times we actually saw him fight, is a bit of a contrast.

Remix that dark knight adage of...

"die a hero retire on top or live fight long enough to be a villain to get wrecked and pile up Ls"

.... and that's the crossroads ATGs like Jones, Khabib, Usman, Silva (a decade ago), etc., inevitably face in the hurt business.

Khabib and Silva made vastly different choices in that regard. Usman stayed one fight too long.

Now we have Jones who cost himself so much of his prime years with foolishness trying to revitalize his career in his mid-late 30s with a significant weight class jump.

I don't see how this ends well, but if anyone can do it I suppose it'd be Bones.

Idk breh:patrice:

Your points are very valid but I could see it the other way too. Francis Knee was really messed up and he is not known as a wrestler and he dominated Gane with the takedowns and wresting. Jones is a high level grappler with a solid chin and Gane doesn't have or hasn't shown that one punch KO power like some HW'S.

BUT... If we go by history, Jones arguably lost to Reyes and couldn't take him down, the fight before that Santos did damage to him.

I think it will be a close call but I have Jones winning a split decision.

Francis is a strong brick shyt house. A natural HW. Plus you are always weary of the power. What does Jones have that Gane should be concerned with?

Gamrot sounded arrogant in his pre fight, I think Jalin turner can make a statement here, this is his fight.

Jones HW portrait circulating, reminded me of shogun with the belly over the shorts. The logic goes Francis is the best wrestler Cyril fought and look what Francis did. But look at the improvements Jamahal Hill made between Paul Craig and the title fight. Jones is another thing but I still don’t feel bones is a safe bet.

That's a good question. Jon is not a KO artist so Gane wont be concerned with that but Jones should be worried about Gane's power in my opinion. I think Jones will stay on the outside to try pick him apart and go for takedowns with 1-2 mins in every round to steal rounds for a decision.

But.... On the other side the only person who matches Gane's style remotely that Jones has faced is Machida. Gane is very fast, very shifty, sticks and moves with a high fight IQ himself. He has to be the aggressor and put Jones on the defense, no fighter really has been able to consistently do that to Jon.

If Gane wins it puts UFC in a super awkard position cuz how you gonna say Gane the baddest HW when he lost to francis
With the machine the UFC has they could easily convince fans that Gane learned from his loss, came back better, and would beat Francis in a rematch. I could definitely see ESPN running a couple of segments about Francis leaving because he was afraid of a rematch with Ciryl.
