But why would he have learned?

Both times he got sat down, they brought him right back in the main event/title slot. So, really that was just time off for him.

Real shyt, Dana White legitimately needs someone to press him for being an enabler. Each time Jones fukks up, he goes on and says how betrayed he is, but then never actually DOES anything. The closest he came was stripping him of the light heavyweight title after the first major DUI, but he gave him a fight for the interim belt on his first fight back. When he popped hot after the second Cormier fight, he walks back into an immediate fight for the belt. Other than lost time, there have been absolutely no professional repercussions for his actions. So, of course he hasn't learned his lesson. No one's been willing to teach it.

He banned Symtex after that cheap shot he landed when the fight was long over. Didn’t Overeem get a ban too?

He's going to get another chance because he brings in $$$. I wouldn't be shocked if Dana suspended him for year, took the belt, let Reyes fight Anthony Smith for the actual title (no interim). He said he wanted to move up to HW, and that looks less likely after this. Some of those dudes in that division (Ngannou) would obliterate this nikka if he moved up with his current mindset.

The Jones "redemption" story is exhausted. He's no longer some young 22 y/o that likes to party a lot. He's 32 and it's clear that he has substance issues. Maybe he feels that he's hit his peak in his career, and that's tough to accept at 32. Either way, hope he figures it out not only for his career and himself, but his family too.

He never fukked with Semtex, and that was a case where he had to look out for another fighter.

He also doesn't really fukk with Overeem either, so he's not getting special treatment.

Hell, just listen to how they talk about Jones on commentary. They refuse to actually acknowledge why he has absences, just vaguely stating that he has had distractions, or had "time off", went to talking him up as the unquestioned greatest of all time (completely ignoring the failed test), and even had Rogan go on that embarrassing rant about how his DQ loss needs to be overturned so he's undefeated. It's clear that he's handled with preference. And as someone who's seen family go through what Jones is going through, that shyt adds to the addiction spiral. Addicts never learn until they lose something of real value to them, or the support of the person or people that enable them. Neither has happened in this case.
