Looking at this week's UFC Fight Night: Sonnen vs Shogun card, it's stacked. I'm genuinely looking forward to pretty much every fight on the main card. Plus, the undercard is shaping up nicely as well. You have two top 5 BWs going at it [McDonald and Pickett], both of whom are exciting fighters. You also have McGregor vs Holloway, two great/exciting prospects going at it. The McGregor hype is crazy, we'll see if it's justified. Brandao is also on the undercard, he's easily one of the most exciting fighters at FW, he's a killer/finisher.
  • Mauricio Rua vs. Chael Sonnen (Whether win or lose, both fighters bring it. Sonnen hasn't looked that great as of late, but to his credit his last two opponents have been Anderson and Bones. Plus, when was the last time Shogun was in a boring fight?)
  • Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem (The return of the Reem, I think he comes out hungry/focused and makes pretty quick work of Browne. But, with the Reem's questionable chin/heart [and lack of PEDs] and Browne's power, you never know. Both fighters are exciting and have power. You know someone's getting finished. )
  • Yuri Alcantara vs. Urijah Faber (Alcantara has looked like an animal at BW, he's facing one of the best his division has to offer in Faber. This has the makings of a really good fight.)
  • Matt Brown vs. Mike Pyle (Both fighters are on impressive win streaks, especially Brown. who has looked really exciting as well)
  • Uriah Hall vs. John Howard (The hype for Uriah Hall came crashing down in his last fight. We'll see how he bounces back against a game fighter like Howard. It's Doomsday's first fight back in the UFC, so you know they're both hungry for a win. As Rampage put it, some black on black crime.)
  • Michael Johnson vs. Joe Lauzon (Joe is arguably the most exciting fighter in MMA, dude always puts on a show.)

should be a fun night of fights

it all depends how Shogun looks at the weigh ins (pause) Sonnen is a bad matchup for him tho on paper at least being that Sonnen has a solid chin and Rua isn't the most difficult cat to take down

I want Overeem to win but I at the same time don't want him getting anywhere near a shot at Cain Velasquez because Cain would maul him relentlessly .. he's a big time frontrunner and his chin has me feeling :patrice: about this fight with Browne. I'd bet on Reem if I were a betting type but I wouldn't be bold in the prediction

Faber isn't fighting a champ which usually means he'll fight like a world beater here. I feel bad for him he's marketable but can't beat any of the champs in the UFC, him and Alcantra are gonna have a fun scrap tho.

Shogun always looks a bit flabby at weigh ins. Hopefully, he's injury-free and in good shape. Sonnen is a bad match-up for him, but Shogun is always dangerous and I hope he pulls it off.

To be fair, Cain mauls 95% of the division. I would love to see that fight. Overeem has more than enough power to finish Cain, but other then a finish, I don't see how Overeem wins that fight.

Alcantara will come in really hungry, I think this is his coming out party.

He's actually a great fighter. He's only lost to the best and his resume speaks for itself [wins over Okami, Stann, Bisping, and Marquardt].

He can get an instant title shot tomorrow thats not the point, .I am speaking about his appeal as a headliner/box office draw.Dude has really lost his aura outside of 2 flash KO wins in succession i really dont see how he can ever become as relevant

No, he can't. One devastating win for the Reem and everybody will be talking about him.
