i don't think i've ever seen a corner literally throw in the towel like that. damn. nick had basically nothing (but taunts) for josh.
fukking matt brown, man. he's forcing me to take him seriously now. had him on entertaining scrub status for a long time but damn...5 fights in a row now, can't argue with that. i really thought mein would beat him. that said, i still don't see matt being a real contender, ever.
i knew cormier's speed would be a huge advantage and i actually thought he'd ko/tko him and although he got the better of the exchanges, for most of the fight he kind of just couture'd mir. i expected more but still, it was a good win for dc. and i know dude was never ripped but damn...maybe it's just me but dc looked extra chunky for this fight. if you didn't know any better, you'd never expect that dude to be a big-time mma fighter lol.
benson henderson won that fight. it was pretty close, a lot closer than i expected actually, but i don't see how gil won. melendez seemed set on countering for most of the fight and although he had some success doing so (not every time), overall, ben got the better of the exchanges...and outside of that, henderson was working gil's legs a lot and generally doing more damage. gil would often throw that punch/low kick combo and try to catch ben circling off the fence (while wiping his hair off his face) but it didn't really end up doing anything significant. i mean, they scored it as a split decision as it was. just imagine if gil was more outwardly aggressive, he might of won by ud.
despite that, the rest of the 155'ers just got put on notice. melendez is serious.
i missed everything else. i just saw what was on fox...but i hear it was a dope card all-around.
