‘Unicorn Warriors Eternal’ - New Animated Series from the Mind of Genndy Tartakovsky

The series follows a team of ancient heroes protecting the world from an ominous force. Throughout history, unicorns have symbolized the virtuous, appearing to ensure that goodness reigns. When the reawakening of our heroes comes too early, they find themselves in the bodies of teenagers. Damaged as a result, their memories of who they are and the history of the unicorn over the centuries have been lost, with some of their magical abilities weakened and fragmented. Not only do they have to protect the world against the prevailing darkness, they have to do it while navigating the unexpected laughs and humor that come with teen angst and emotions.

Not good so far. It’s my least favorite Genndy project in years. The animation wasn’t special, the story made no sense, and I am not a big enough fan of Astro boy to like the character designs.

Maybe it gets better, but the first two episodes were mid. I read a review that said episode 5 provides some context. So I expect that to be when maybe the show steps up the stakes and explains wtf is happening.

I watched both episodes last night and thought it was an interesting concept with these warriors being reincarnated throughout history to fight some everlasting evil. The robot is my favorite character so far and thought the animation looked really good, although different.

Definitely missing something but also an see it cooking up something.

I feel like this is one of those situations where the art style isn’t equipped to tell the story involved. As someone mentioned, it’s like trying to tell a Gundam war story via Astroboy animation.

Just finished ep 3, definitely seems like the show is going to be more comedic in tone.

Seeing the 9 tailed fox reminded me of Naruto.
