that reverse racism coming...

A Minneapolis teachers union contract has revealed the anti-white systemic racism that the Left hopes to enshrine in America.

According to the contract, white teachers must always be laid off or fired first in the case of downsizing, whereas “educators of color” must recieve preferential treatment, Alpha News reported.

The contract emerged from the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers recent bargain struck with Minneapolis Public Schools.

One of the sections of the agreement, titled “educators of color protections,” stipulates that white teachers should be “excessed”—an apparently nice word for being “fired”—before black teachers.

“Starting with the Spring 2023 Budget Tie-Out Cycle, if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population,” the agreement reads.

“Excessing,” according to the contract, means “reducing staff in a particular school when there is a reduction in the number of available positions in a title or license area in that school.”

The section of the contract is meant “to remedy the continuing effects of past discrimination by the District,” which is guilty of racist hiring practices in the past.

“Past discrimination by the District disproportionately impacted the hiring of underrepresented teachers in the District, as compared to the relevant labor market and the community, and resulted in a lack of diversity of teachers,” the agreement continues.

But according to James dikkey, senior trial counsel at the Upper Midwest Law Center, the racial component is unconstitutional at both a state and federal level.

“The [collective bargaining agreement] … openly discriminates against white teachers based only on the color of their skin, and not their seniority or merit,” dikkey noted.

“Minneapolis teachers and taxpayers who oppose government-sponsored racism like this should stand up against it.”

It's not discriminating against White teachers unless White teachers are overrepresented. If White teachers are underrepresented at a site, then they would be the last to be fired. So the talking point claiming that it's anti-white is false - you can only assume it's anti-white if you assume that white people will always be overrepresented.

I like the intent of the rule. Usually when staff cuts for teachers to get fired, they go by seniority and fire the newest teachers first. So if a district has always had 90% White teachers, and is just now making an effort to finally hire Black teachers, any staff cuts would continually fukk over those Black teachers because they're the newest hires. So it makes sense that firing by seniority generally will be in opposition to racial equality.

That being said, I do see how it's easy to use as a racist talking point. That's why using race-neutral language like the contract does is important.

The article said that they are very overrepresented in a school district where 60% of the kids are ethnic.

It makes sense to retain those teachers first, if possible

Also, when are schools actively downsizing and laying off teachers anyway? I feel like that is rate and most schools are looking to hire
