The South.
I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flack for this, but whatever
I agree, history is important. VERY important. Why else would cacs do everything in their power to white wash it? That being said....Its cool to hear something that was previously unknown to me, but I see a lot of brehs and brehettes put waaay too much importance over shyt that really dont matter when it comes to whats really important.

Like Ok, I get it. Egypt use to be black.....but its not now and how does that help the situation with us in America. I understand a lot of cac music came from us, but obviously nikkas dont care today because they sure as hell aint safe guarding rap/hip hop and I wouldn't be surprised if cacs eventually take over that genre too. I know I know, we were most likely here in the americas first....good to know, but again what is that doing for every brother and sister thats struggling? I see waay to many of my people talk about how great we had it and what we have done, only to turn around and "shyt on nikkas" today. Or too many people who don't care about our youth. And the one quote that rubs me the wrong way is when people bring up growth in the black community whether it be about spending habits, overall behavior, etc is "b b but white people do it too". Stop adding cacs into our equation

And I know nikkas on here like to point fingers and be like, "well what are you doing for black people?". To get that out of the way. Im a land lord and I provide good housing to black military members. I donate to the innocence project every year and do what I cant to fight against privatized prisons. I volunteer at food banks/soup kitchens multiple times a year. I'm not a prince hall mason, my homeboy is and whenever they doing something for the community he know to call me and I'll show up to support. I vote on a local scale to support black needs(yes i voted for stacey abrams). And I coach the lil brehs from the hood in boxing without charging parents a dime, because I know shyt is already tight when it comes to finances.
I see where youre coming from.

I will say this its always important to know about your past. History of the past has value as one part of history is that it shows and teaches us lessons.

Its helps build an identity and for Black folks in America that is critical. Its also important to know that our history isnt just of slavery.

I know its a weird way of looking at it and you might not like it lol but why do you there,s groups of white people in power willing to lie about our history? They see the value of it.

History doesnt work like you want it to but you can see the effect of it and not knowing it right?

explain, just curious about whats wrong with focusing on now and later while keeping our history at the same time instead of focusing on history all of the time

I literally said in my 1st line "not saying that you are wrong" so I don't disagree with you

But just talking in my personal life, if I knew about black history sooner (when I was a kid) I would know to be more careful with white people and to be aware of they Lying tatics

I think history affects people who learned about it later in life, people who are raised with it can naturally go on with their life because they understand the games that are being played

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it :yeshrug:

Forgetting your past only leads to the problems you see today.

Don't forget the past. The past is simply for reference, not to "live in it". We must always live in the moment because that's all we really have.

Living in the past = depression

Living in the future = anxiety

Living in the moment = Harmony

This resonates with me. I think some Black folks have an unhealthy obsession with ancient Egypt and an unrealistic and unreasonable need to connect with it. I mean if it benefits their self esteem, well more power to them. I just fail to see the need to identify with it so much. It borders on ancestor worship and any possible (not to mention questionable) connection between any random Black person in America with ancient Egypt is distant to the point of irrelevance. It reminds me of cacs who are obsessed with being Native Americans in an effort to make themselves more exotic.

Something else too, the whole we originated from kings and queens, and the obsession with Nefertiti and Cleopatra is very indicative of people with self esteem issues. There can only be one king and queen at any given time, so the chances of any of us originating from royalty is slim to none. You're more likely to be the descendant of a subject than any king or queen.

Agreed, balance is needed. Study history by all means, but also spend more time studying practical things to get certs and build real things like the Asians. We need more of us with in demand skills like medicine, programming, engineering than we need Egyptologists.
