To run for president legally, all you have to do is.

Be at least 35 (For House it's 25, for Sentate its 30)
Be naturally born in the U.S.
Be a U.S. resident for at least 14 years.

And that's it :mindblown:

No educational requirements.
No exams
No training
No nothing.

Now of course there are other unofficial standards but really it's about the money you raise. More importantly, the rest is superficial bullshyt like charisma, debating and other nonsense.

How can one call the U.S. president the most "powerful" person in the world or the "leader" of the "free" world when the criteria is bullshyt. Trump should've been eliminated from consideration before his initial campaign began.

Furthermore, these constitutional rules are outdated and needs to be amended. They have minimum age requirements but maximum :dahell:

And the Supreme Court needs to have term limits as well... and the fukking president shouldn't be able to pick who that judge should be.

The entire political system is outdated, not to mention one big clusterfukk.

Agree on some of what you said, but would you honestly be saying the same thing about the Supreme Court if Hillary won?

It's not about Hillary.

Basically one of the reasons why they say you should vote because the next president will choose the Supreme Court Justice vacancy. So in essence regular people is choosing them because no candidate or average voter knows jack shyt about the law. The whole process is dumb. Every election cycle, we are constantly given choices of people to vote for with no intellect and no knowledge on how basic things work.

Donors and other unknown people basically choose who they want people to vote for and that's that. Then we have to let these people make decisions that affect everyone else directly or indirectly.

The standards are too fukking low. Hillary Clinton shouldn't have been allowed to run nor Trump. This is why most elections reflect a divided country. We have 50/50 election results with literally nothing to show for it.

I would and have felt this way since learning about life appointment in high school. No matter who is appointed, I don't need someone 2-3 generations removed making/interpreting laws in my world. And fukk ageism, any honest 75+ year old will tell you they aren't as sharp or quick as they were in their 20's-50's, the fukk we got 84 year olds still working and shaping the country for?

I would also say that they shouldn't be appointed, but I can't honestly expect America to care or be knowledgeable enough to vote on justices, so at least limit them their terms. 12-16 years is more than enough to provide stability while also allowing room for turnover.

Congress needs term limits to, should be 8 years - makes senate terms 4 years, house can go to 4 or stay 2 - like the pres

I dont know breh:patrice: i think the founders wanted it so anybody could run.

But the founders were also racist:jbhmm:

I would not be adverse to some kind of vetting. A thorough look into someones background, foreign ties, criminal history, etc

We really are wide open for a foreign backed candidate to slip in if you think about it

I don't think supreme court justices should be picked by one person. There should be a bipartisan committee with a unanimous vote. EVERYONE on the supreme court should be on the same page and ALL of the justices should be voting up on down the same way and not based on the party of the president that appointed them.

THe average voter doesn't take elections seriously. You have a political system that was created when there was 13 or so states and a population of a few million? to 50 states and over 300 million. The process has been diluted and dumbed down.

Most congressman are bought. Presidents pick advisers and appoint people who they will become in debt with. Lobbyist culture rules. The concept of paying someone to go to Washington and influence policy is outrageous. Corporations have the SAME rights as humans when it comes to political influence and the average voters are sheep.

This entire election cycle and be summed up with 3 words.

I guess not. I don't care that he's black. The standard should be hire. That goes for the president and congress. Why do you think it's so easy for them to not get legislation passed? It's been the same two parties for decades and every year they regurgitate the same talking points, get paid by the same donors during an election cycle, give positions to the same puppet masters to control their actions or keep them in check because they don't know jack shyt.
