Up and coming writer

Been thinking for a long time about this but i finally realized not too long ago that my passion is writing. I'm heavy into journalism and already have a few blogs going but I want to take it further and make a career out of it. I'm aware that writing is a competitive field but it's something I really want to pursue. Any of the coli fam have any places I can check out that offers entry level or internships for up and coming writers?

Try your local papers and also any popular magazines that provide social/political/economic commentary.

Also look for opportunities to do freelance writing to build a portfolio.
