Candidate Obi has gone positively and negatively viral due to his trip to Egypt.

The positive side is many consider this a follow through of his oath to study systems of other countries to implement impeovements in Nigeria.

One example of him making this oath is the interview linked below.

The negative side is that it has given his political opposition the opportunity to call him out for a spending the time campaigning in significant places in Nigeria instead.

Also criticizing him for still trying to learn just 8 months or so away from the election.

Politics first. Comparative development study after.

This doesn't make much sense to me.

You could actually invite dignitaries from Egypt's energy sector to come and do feasibility studies on Nigeria's energy sector. Going there to 'study' their energy sector is low key embarassing for a Presidential aspirant. You could send reps from the Ministry of Works and Power for that.

What he should be doing actually is inviting big energy players in renewables, which will signal a willingnes to diversify our energy production beyond oil and gas.

Obi should go to the North and tell them they’re a potential solar energy powerhouse. Champion solar farms and jobs up there. Make a big speech at ABU!

the north isn't secure. No point in installing solar panels when bandits are massacring hundreds and burning villages down daily

This the kind of thing I'm talking about. Even big energy companies are trying to move into renewables. They are able to earmark billions for these projects, which will yield dividends down the line from a financial and carbon footprint reduction point of view. If you see the ecological devestation that has happened in the Delta region, you'd know this isn't just piecemeal talk.

Peter Obi should be courting the big oil and gas companies and structuring PPP deals with the oil and gas producing local governments to inject capital into the region. It's all about intent...he just needs to signal that he has a mandate to genuinely attempt to diversify Nigeria beyond crude oil exports.

I don't believe Biafra, if independent, will be much better than Nigeria itself. The corruption is a systematic issue that won't be solved overnight. Plus, nearly half of the people in that region is like me, a member of a minority tribe. Biafra is not a fix-all solution.
