Update: I left my $100k/yr IT job in DC to start a business down in Louisiana last July.

He isn't wrong though. You type paragraphs, with vague ass descriptions and claim it's detailing your progress. Sounds more like fake bragging.

1) Do people inquire about you where you need to make these threads?
2) You're horrible at recounting experiences. Is there a moral here? Something you're trying to impart to "us?" Asking for advice? Warning us not to make the same mistakes?
Don't worry. We're all haters for asking :duck:

You clowns are assuming a lot. I did a lot research, but when starting any new business for the 1st time there are a lot of unknowns. Ask any business that.

Say what you want but it take balls to make major moves. It's easy to sit quietly and grow old never attempting to do something special. I'm glad I did what I did. I had to do it, I had to learn and see for myself. I can't take the word of people that have never done shyt like you two. If i'm not happy or satisfied I'm going to make moves. Things might not work out exactly as planned but I'll bounce back. I'll never stop trying. I'm going to run a business some day.
I've never doubted your desire, but your planning seemed really poor...ESPECIALLY the idea that you'd move from DC to fukking Louisiana...

Not to mention the fact you sounded like you were just unable to fit in, rather that you had an actual plan.

I said you needed to drop this whole "I need to be near my family" BS and leave all that "i miss my mom" shyt in the rear.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
IT in Louisiana (or lack thereof) is actually ripe for opportunity, but it's not going to present itself like your typical job. Lots of oil companies there are behind the curve when it comes to IT, if you can market yourself as a person that can advance their infrastructure and come up with reasons why they need to do so you can eat. Make a nice salary, and of course the cost of living is a lot less there. The problem is a lot of these companies don't have positions for this type of work you have to get out there and market yourself to these companies. Working in this industry I see room for a lot of come up once these oil prices start going back up.

Houston, but the company I work for has its ops center in Louisiana, so I've seen their oil operations in that region too. A lot of smaller oil companies here in Houston are behind the ball with IT so I know for a fact the same is going on Louisiana. These small companies were enjoying nice comfortable profit margins for awhile so updating infrastructure wasn't high on the list. Due to the fall in oil prices these smaller companies are doing everything in their power to cut cost and that's becoming increasingly difficult, time consuming, and costly with the limitations they have with their current infrastructure systems. Guaranteed they won't make the mistake again, and when the oil prices get back on the rise they're going to look to update/upgrade. Lots of opportunity there.

For all of you who remembered, i'd been working in DC in the IT field for 10 years making good money. I had saved up a lot of money and I was tired of the DC work scene and decided to move to Louisiana to be near my family and maybe start a business. I made the move this past July. As far as the business, it was too risky, hard to find a good location and money just isn't flowing well here at all. Honestly you need a team of people (investors) to help you start a business if possible. It's a lot to alone, but possible. I still have aspiration of starting a business someday, but I'll wait til an opportunity presents itself instead of trying to force it.

After months of trying to start a business, I fell back on that and started travelling the world and the US. Went to Turkey, France and Germany, DC about 5 times and to Atl a few times. I been eating and spending frivolously. With that said, I've seen my savings lose about 30k in the past 8 months. Most of that was for my business venture. Fukk it i guess. I still have a good amount left, but it's time to get back on the grind.

I start teaching middle school tomorrow, i'm taking a big pay cut, but at least I won't using my savings. I'm going to give this a try for a month or so. If it doesn't work out well, I'm might be heading back to DC to stack up some more money and go back at it.

Thing is, I was miserable in DC and I had to leave to see what was what. When you aren't happy you have to try something to change you thoughts and feelings. I still don't like the DC vibe, but I might have to go back for the money.

Life is crazy my gz :whew:

See, this is why I called you out for being naive and ...frankly stupid.

You did no research, then when you had some free time, you fukked around and blew your time on bullshyt and entertainment.

All that downtime you should have spent hustling, you focused on "living it up" instead of grinding ...now you're teaching middle school and trying to figure your way out of this hole you're in instead of doing what you should have done from the start.

I can't salute your moves, nor can I pretend to congratulate you.

You're broke...and you fukked up.

Anyone could have told you that Louisiana would be a bad look, but you wanted to be stubborn about it.

:childplease: @ this weak ass rant..... Anytime a nikka can do whatever the fukk he wanna do>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than you stressing about asking your boss for a day off.............
