Still Working On it.
So far I have the cauldron with the Haitian Machete (Ogun Feray) symbolism and the child (the child is people born into slavery and the children born liberated from the fight represented) and Erzulie Dantor.
Also I have used more of my collage from the Reparations series I had kept over cause France owes Louisiana and Ayiti (I love the way that pronounced btw) Reparations. Esp Ayiti. I bought some African fabric Imma add once it's dry.
Tonight, I did the cauldron, plantain basket and plantain, machete and french flag.
Tomorrow (when I wake up) Imma finish the little girl outfit and skin.
Wednesday is Erzulie Dantor (Goddess of War)
Thursday Imma add her Veve as grafitti in blue oil stick or oil pastel or Crayon. Depends on my mood.
Friday touch ups.
When completely dry Imma add the African fabric and then the flames of the cauldron burning the french flag. More of the Louisiana x Haiti connection...another homage from when I met my 1st born and raised Haitian. She chastised me for not knowing Louisiana Kreyol lol.
It's supposed to look like the goddess is done fighting and putting an end to france's occupation of Ayiti and its people from the Revolution and Goddess is comforting the people of Ayiti (a child because the people of Ayiti then and now will always be her children and she is still a protector..for those not brainwashed by christianity bs). The original flag of Ayiti "White Torn out" and the flowers to literally give her, her flowers. I also find it ironic and flicking dope Ayiti original flag has 2 of her 3 colors so the color layout was a dope and easy concept.
I used a stencil and spray paint to make it grafitti and more contemporary with the religious christian element (which is me making fun of christianity by using their religious artistic aesthetic sanitized for the African Diaspora pallette
I chose to display Erzulie Dantor dark-skinned to showcase the beauty of our existence without white DNA.
So please stay tuned
