When I think vocals prince is the last person I’ll think about..You think those vocals are in The class of…..

To be honest, any vocalist from Boys II Men is better than Usher. Usher could've been a part of that group and not really stood out, vocally. He was a teenage darling for young girls. That's what boosted him.

Can he play as many instruments as Prince? Can he produce like Prince and write songs for himself and other artists, also like Prince? Can he dance as well as Prince danced?

:yeshrug:

Usher is looking increasingly droll to me, as a singer.

Vocal teachers are not studying Usher’s voice and crowing about it like Prince’s.

Sorry. Usher has a pretty run of the mill R&B vocalization style that peaked in 2004, which compared to Prince’s vocal longevity and various genres he sang in - eclipses Usher’s. Usher is a very one dimensional guy.

Let me know when Usher’s voice is successful in R&B, Jazz, New Wave, Rock, Disco, House etc etc etc
I don’t care about what Cac vocal teachers think :mjlol: A lot of them favor Prince because of his Rock leanings. Those same people teaching Bob Dylan vocal classes:mjlol: Prince not in that level vocal wise. Maybe those vocal teachers should do Stevie wonder instead. I love Prince as an artists but vocally he wasn’t the end all be all.

You may be right :yeshrug: because they are all top notch vocalist. The thing is Usher would fit right in with boyz 2 men compared to Prince:yeshrug: I’m talking vocals. Yes prince is a musical genius. One of the greatest artists of all time. Was prince a better artist than Usher? Yes

Prince would not fit into Boys II Men, You are right. Prince was, as a vocalist, too unique. That's what helped him because one of the most successful American musical acts of all time.

:yeshrug:

Usher was/is pretty run of the mill. He's no Tevin Campbell.

Prince had his own vocal style. He wasn’t a top notch vocalist. Plus considering he wrote all his music he made his style work the way it was intended.

Incorrect. He was an excellent vocalist. During his lifetime, it was often remarked upon by vocal coaches that despite not being technically trained, he was an excellent pop vocalist.

Prince was a once in a lifetime talent.

I think non-Prince fans become a bit unsettled that the American Mozart was a black man from Minneapolis but unfortunately for them, he was one of a kind and excelled musically in every single way. And he made everything their favourite artists do look easy.

Michael Jackson once remarked to a confidante that he was afraid that God was giving Prince songs that threatened his success. Usher, if you asked him, would tell you Prince was a greater artist than him without batting a lie.

I mentioned purely vocals :mjlol: I don’t care about Cac college professors. Of course Prince is a better artist than Usher. That wasn’t my argument:mjlol:

Why do you assume that scholars of voice are cac? That sounds like self-hatred to me.

Expressions of self-hatred aside, Usher lacks the octave range, musical genre versatility, and even the timbre of Prince's voice. Which pretty much explains the constraints of his career. A one-trick pony whose pony had a lame leg.

Nah it’s Cacs :mjlol: I’ve frequented Prince.org (his fansite) for years even before his passing. The majority of his super fans are snobbish white music fans. Anytime there is a celebration at paisley park look at who the majority is in the crowd

Prince ain’t touching none of them vocally. You seem to forget prince was a big rock fan too. Some of the last albums he purchased were new wave rock bands and other rock artist from the 70s. You posting soul artist as if that was his only influence.

I answered your question of "Who was Prince trying to sound like?"
Name the rock vocalists that sang in falsetto.

But as far as influences go:

If you hate Prince, just say that. :pachaha:
BTW, I can't be schooled on Prince, either. So I didn't "forget" anything.
I know more about that dude than he knew about himself.

You know damn well prince was going for The Bee Gees sound :pachaha: He listened to those Cacs. Can’t tell me otherwise. Earth Wind and Fire etc had a more soulful falsetto
