I’m assuming you’re referring to WGBO Channel 66? I found out about UWF later but I got into NWA/WCW in late ‘89 so my memories of that station are Worldwide and Pro Wrestling back to back on Sunday mornings

Channel 66 was the original all video channel 24/7 before this.
So when twisted sister to then zz rop rocked. We were all ears rhen as kids. That when rhe fantastics came out to zz top.
I was definitely sold on the fantastics entrance.
As it eas like a total upgrade. To hogun using survivor's eye of the tiger. Just with way better everything.
Plus,...it was just like nwa..
Although i never got magnum replaced. To root on as a face.
The content never insulted my intelligence.

watching uwf..Where i felt like an adult.
As good guys could lose.
Plus the actual bad guys in the freebirds opposite the fantastics were racist.
Danny spivey was like what if hogun was a bad guy. That look way harder than hogun.
They had steiner.
Hot stuff.
Sting : was the scary dude on tv to me as a kid. Man sting was ruthless.

Plus jim ross spoke of.

All were high quality before vince ruined him.

Was next level.

Plus the workRate alway paid off.

When people wonder why i am quick to call wwf phoney. It is because uwf was just a higher quality product. With what would become the workers vince buried. When i knew better sunfin was wrong. As i had seen all rhese guys be excellent beforehand in uwf.

That one in the original post wasn't "the" UWF tho, that was Herb Abrams, the coked-out fan who had a lotta money and launched a fed in 1990.

The original UWF (formerly Mid-South) was classic tho'. It started suffering in '87 because the economy in Oklahoma went belly up and attendance went down... Jim Crockett bought Bill Watts out and brought it to the NWA. Then, it was kinda like a predecessor to the WWF/WCW Invasion angle- they kept a few guys that they intended to get over (Sting, Dr. Death, Rick Steiner), but everybody else (Terry Taylor, Eddie Gilbert, Sheepherders) got run over by the NWA stars. Some of them left for the WWF (DiBiase, Duggan, One Man Gang) or World Class (Freebirds, Chris Adams).
