It should've been all about Vegeta with Piccolo as his main rival. They should've sent Goku to live with chi chi in the mountains.

Man, just re-watching that shyt brought back dem chills. Vegas was at his rawest form right there.

After this though, the series continuously and erroneously started throwing Vegta under the fukking bus in disgust. Duke took a Kiao-ken XS3 beatdown, a planet destruction strength Kamehameha and a fukking spirit bomb and was still ready to throw down, yet in so many sagas afterwards, some light ass beatings was enough to have him throwing in the towel!? This was the point when I seriously started questioning Dragonball's power level consistency or lack thereof with how dirty they treated Vegeta. I watched up to the GT saga, but I knew long before then that the series was shark jumping and despite the many high notes after this battle, I continued to be let down by DBZ.
