If Trump thinks this will work to get his approval ratings up, I don't think it will work for him like other presidents.
The American public overall is tired of the constant wars. But on top of that, you could argue a good propaganda campaign like they did with the Iraq war (with the booster in their packs from 9/11) could overcome that public sentiment. Especially, like with the Iraq War, he was able to get a coalition of other countries to sign on to the lies. But Trump has burned too many bridges and also doesn't have the political savvy to build that type of coalition.
I hope any military action by the US into Venezuela leads to an embarrassing defeat. Stop the bullshyt. Any Democratic candidate also signing on to this bullshyt will get the boot from me.

Venezuela has had problems that predate it's socialist policies, millions flee when you have a power house capitalist country that can use said sanctions to literally starve out a country's population. If there was a socialist super power like say the former Soviet Union, that's who they could easily rely on.
The reason he's "popular" is because he was elected by the people of Venezuela and not handpicked by the West.
