I guess we'll see what happens but the US made Maduro into a sin eater, him getting pressured by his own ruling coalition to step down would be the easiest offramp to end the entire affair.

The VP Rodriguez and Interior Minister Cabello would be next in line, some analysts make the latter out to be the power behind the curtain. It's not like Trump cares who rules Venezuela, it's all about name recognition. Maduro was beyond ready to cut a deal with Trump to alleviate pressure but Trump (and Rubio) didn't want him in power. The same deal sans Maduro is probably what got done.
