What do you guys think about how his avg minutes played will affect his legacy (stats etc). He's at appx 30 mins/g right now and he's only 22.

In the era of load management, cumulative stats won't really matter as much. For him, it'll be all about rings and FMVPs. That's all people really lock in on in this current era.

I think they’re thinking long term for a player of his size. I expect his minutes to go up in the playoffs. They already have the third best record in the NBA and are on a 10 game winning streak. Why wear him out in February? I see Wemby right now as just found money in terms of how good the Spurs are. I expect his final form - assuming he stays healthy- to be even more potent as he perfects the game more and gains more strength. So I’m not really even judging him as a player yet. I’ll start to when he’s 24, 25+. It’s crazy how good he already is being (expectedly) years away from his final form.

ok now that that's out of the way, this is an interesting perspective. Maybe it will take a few years, once guys who played most of their careers during this era, for the shift to be definitive.

I 100% understand the strategy. I was thinking moreso in terms of how it might affect the way ppl in the future look back at his career and make the inevitable comparisons to past GOAT contenders.

I don’t expect him to play that amount of minutes in the playoffs. And ultimately that’s where legends are made. He gets a couple of titles, like 5 DPOYS and some finals and regular season MVPs no one will care how many minutes he played.
