Dem Boyz is a southern-bred hip hop group formed in Riverdale, GA in October 2010. The group consists of Brady “Boochie” Level, Marques “Spook” Allen, Trey “TreyBo” Appling and their newest member, Brandon “Snake” Alexander, introduced upon the release of their latest single “2x (Two Times)” in January 2012. Snake’s word-play and Southern drawl fit well to compliment Spook’s lyrical genius, Boochie’s enthralling tone, and TreyBo’s skillful production—meshing various influences to create harmonious rap tunes.
In February 2011, the group was booked for their first performance at West Atlanta’s Déjà Vu Sports Bar and Lounge. There, the group performed the combative club anthem, “Battle With Tha Hands,” produced by high school associate Trey “TreyBo” Appling. By April 2011, Dem Boyz released their first mixtape, “Ridin Music,” from which they pushed a second single, “Stunt On Yall” featuring Irene Martian. Within months their music began creating a lasting impact with performances and appearances at one of South Atlanta’s premier nightspots, J. Paul’s Bar and Grill—a venue they used to create their primary following in a movement they called The Takeover. As the group’s Southside buzz grew stronger, so did their relationship with Appling, making him an addition to the DB family.
In December 2011, Dem Boyz introduced a revamped group with the release of “Real Recognize Real,” Boochie and Spook’s collaboration mixtape and the band’s second production. The mixtape’s first single “2x (Two Times)” features 31, Nick James and Snake, who soon after became the group’s fourth member, adding his laid-back Texan persona to the trio’s Georgia charm. Obviously the recipe to success, the single’s collaboration heightened the group’s buzz, earning recognition from film and media sources—including radio personalities from one of Georgia’s major hip-hop stations V103.3—who crowned DB winners of a weekly showcase at Atlanta’s Cream Ultra Lounge in early 2012.
Dem Boyz uses real-life experiences to create present-day street anthems as soulful and timeless as their exemplars—southern-bred moguls OutKast and UGK
