I heard this random bit of trivia that I feel like fits this thread somewhat.

Steven Spielberg wanted to direct a Call of Duty movie, but Activision turned him down because he wanted too much creative control.

The irony of that is that Spielberg directed Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan directly inspired the Medal of Honor games, and the Medal of Honor games were a direct inspiration for the Call of Duty Games.

So, it's probably should have been a match made in heaven, but Actvision blew it.

The Activision of today ran by Microsoft would likely accept. Microsoft got Fallout on Amazon and tried other properties for series like Halo.
