This, but it's a lot more nuanced than just that:
1. Russian bots promulgating misinformation and racist views that pander to the worst of Americans [and the world, really].
2. The advent of low-brow, right-wing-skewed social media sites like 4C***.
3. The popularity of the internet allowing every dikk and Harry to have a voice.
4. Nixon's Southern Strategy.
5. American Exceptionalism.
6. Women joining the workforce en masse, which means that men inherently have to do more than be a provider + changes in morality after the 70s. That's a large reason why more kats are turning to The Right.
7. Rural areas feeling left behind but simultaneously being complacent in their station, so they continue voting for the same politicians.
8. American culture essentially promoting selfishness and bootstrap logic leading people to vote against their own interests. Not sure how many of my points the video touched on, but I'm 90% sure that I missed some things.
