I'm black and I'm nice, please accept me!!!
U see, thats exactly how I felt when I first watched the video.
It felt like they picked a group of black people with certain characteristics that would make us appear more acceptable or appropriate to white ppl.
But it's just like, at the end of the day those are real people with real feelings displayed. Perhaps throughout their own experiences they actually have felt confined or reduced as individuals by the stereotypes they talk about. Who am I to invalidate their feelings?
I wasn't moved by the video at first, but then I thought maybe it just wasn't meant for
me personally. Maybe it's a black kid out there somewhere that will watch this video and relate to those specific individuals, and feel a sense of relief and validation. Idk.
