Adam Levine has made song collabs with Kendrick Lamar and Cardi B.
He knows rock is past its prime, hip-hop/trap/rap sound completely dominates the charts, and to keep his band revelant, he has to make songs with rappers or RnB singers.

The melody on the song sounds like a hit song back in the day.. kinda sick and tired of songs stealing the hooks or melodies off classics and getting hits off of it.
