Confront some of these women about there weave/perm addiction and they'll give you a million and one reasons why its "not that big of a deal":russ:.

Bbbbut its just hair, its easier to manage, my hair wont grow, white women do it too ect.

I feel this is a major issue in our community were some women walk around with someone else hair stiched on their head 365 days a year. Or even worse constantly putting in chemical that cold burn through metal to strighten their hair.

hotep type deflection

we're not talking about egypt or nubia, we're talking about the united states, here.

btw, those regions had black people as well as others contributing to the diversity of those lands.
How is it Hotep to acknowledge that hair dressing and experimentation has had long and far reaching roots in our community? As a community in diaspora from another continent whose culture prior to enslavement we were influenced by, it would be stupid not to place comparable practices in historical context when our ancestors were doing similar shyt.

So miss me with the weak logic. Also what does "others contributing to the diversity of those lands" have to do with anything? Ur trapping yourself and you don't even know it. It sounds like ur unsuccessfully trying to reach and say hair trends of ancient Africans were also influenced by other cultures. But you don't give enuff credit to our ancestors who also spawned fashion trends. There were straight haired and afro textured wigs found in Nubia and Egypt. Angolan women stretched their hair for length with braids and hair masks prior to mass interaction with whites.
It's natural for women to do different shyt to their hair and try different looks and trends. Water is still wet.

The reason I draw on these examples isn't to justify modern day hair practices but to draw parallels to show that haircare and hair experiementation isn't always about wanting to be white. You give whites far too much power assuming people are emulating them even tho straight hair is a common trait found in the majority of races of people. Hell if anything most races, white and blk or otherwise usually compliment Indians and Asians on the thickness and length of their hair instead of whites which is oftentimes too limp or thin to manipulate properly.

But regardless, the sheer number of different looks a blk woman might rock on any given Tuesday indicates there is far more to hair experimenting than "self-hate". And just because u can find a c00n in a corner, doesn't mean he's representative of our entire race.

By boxing us in, you do racist whites' jobs for them by supporting their arrogant assumptions.

To be honest, the fact that our hair has so much potential for diverse looks is probably more of a reason why blk women like to experiment than anything.
Our hair is naturally kinky, but varies ridiculously in length due to shrinkage, can be straightened, manipulated to rock hundreds of styles without chemical processing, grows ridiculously fast, but is also extremely fragile.
Most of this isn't self-hate...it's actually laziness but that's another conversation because people gotta believe what they gotta believe for their agendas.

first of all, every cotdamn body experimented with their hair through history. any race of woman can rock different looks on any given tuesday. any race of women can perm, wear weave, whatever.

but how come black women do it more than any other race of women in the west?

Major assumption: blk women experiment more with their hair than any other race of women in the west.
Faulty blk logic: Dem white chicks don't do as much shyt to dey hair as blk chicks do.

Ethnic haircare aisles in most stores are tiny in proportion to all the shyt non-blks use on their hair.
Paul Mitchell proves you wrong. From hair coloring to straightening to frizz control to rollers, deep conditioning, cuts, like u have no idea. I had 2 white female roommates in graduate school. They used to pay upwards of $150 for fukkin highlights just for their hair to look exactly like it did before two days later. Lmao! You should see them in the YMCA in the mornings. After the ellipitical machine and chest and arms day, I can shower, do my hair, throw on some eyeliner and lip gloss, rub and put on some lotion in a fraction of the time it takes for them to tug, blow dry, brush, flat iron, and try to style themselves while using about four different products like frizz controllers, holding sprays, heat protectants, and gels.

Ya'll kill me with these white people urban legends. What I can say is that ya'll have allowed the media to really do a number on you. Maybe that's the problem. Ya'll have ideas of non-blks that aren't supported by reality because you don't actually interact with them outside of the media. And I can tell you actually believe what ur saying too. Like ur being genuine here and this makes realize that a lot of other blks probably operate under similar illusions too.

Maybe that's how whites have kept up this genjutsu for so long. I encourage blks to go and hang around whites even more. When u see the reality, the shyt they do makes a yaki weave look tame in comparison...but that's just me.

Why are you boys and men so obsessed with weave? You don't see women in the salon down talking y'all for personal style choices.

Also, that wasn't just a random insult to whites. It was an observation. Different textures yield different haircare practices. Blk women like to go for less daily manipulation than non-blk women do (hence weaves and braids). So haircare for us takes more time maybe once a month but less time daily. Non-blks put in more time daily and less time in one session depending on the texture of ur hair. So if u like wearing different looks it depends on what u might wanna do.

But people don't think about any of this stuff because they are always chomping at the bits to paint blk chicks as tragic victims of self-hate trying to emulate their white superiors.

GTFOH. Lol!

you are easily one the most delusional posters. i'm in graduate schools surrounding by whites.

just because i can admit black men and women have had a number done on them by white supremacy doesn't mean i'm under some genjutsu.

You are wasting your time trying to educate these fools. They get their rocks off by talking about weaves. This same topic was started by OP not even a month ago. He will keep doing it till he finally has a girlfriend to help occupy his time.

See a bunch of deflection posts. Tell these same women to take off their weave, do their hair how they want it and go outside for a day, week, month. And afterwards they can go back to wearing hair hats.

See if they'll do it.
