The misbegotten Philadelphia 76ers apparently heard all of the chatter. Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe set it off by recently asserting that the collegiate Kentucky Wildcats would defeat the hapless Sixers team in a seven-game series. Sacramento Kings big man and Kentucky alum DeMarcus Cousins agreed.

“I’ma roll with Kentucky as well,” Cousins said. “Honestly I don’t know much about the 76ers. I’ll probably go with Kentucky.”

Philly must have gotten the memo. 30 seconds into the 76ers loss to the Suns, Nerlens Noel committed an 80’s style hard foul on his fellow Wildcats alum Bledsoe. This time the rookie laid the wood to the veteran. Noel earned a flagrant 1 as a result of the offense.

The Sixers have been accused of tanking, but Noel’s foul displayed the kind of pride that will earn his team respect around the league.
