I went to college at a white school in the mountains.
Every bar had live bluegrass playing when I first got there
I told the band I wanted to rap with them one night. They were confused. I told them to just slow the tempo down. shyt sounded dope "screwed". And I ripped it. After that, mfs said I was a bluegrass rapper and I said "hol up" made me bring my 4 track to the open mic night with my original beats.
I was there for 9 years total. Stayed for years after I graduated.
When I left, Hip Hop bands were in every bar on the strip.
I was too lazy to do the type of promotion I would need to do to capitalize.. but I started the scene in that town and was a local celeb.
Five years later I came to visit. Soon as I walked in the bar where I used to do open mic, a dude jumped out his chair like "Oh shyt!! Y'all performing tonight?!"
I was just grabbing a drink. I was surprised.
The vid in OP reminds me of my bluegrass rap episode.
