My daughter lost out on becoming historian for her high school theater group because we don’t allow our kids to be on TikTok.

A “requirement” for the role was a personal Instagram and TikTok that can be linked to the school account. She doesn’t have them so she was rejected despite receiving the most votes.

I told the advisor my husband and I do not allow our children to have personal accounts on TikTok because of the racial harassment we have witnessed. She looked at me like I was speaking another language and said “well she can be private.” I then responded people still harass private accounts plus fundamentally we don’t support the platform.
