What they need to do is isolate NYC for like a decade and let all this shyt sort itself out. It's not even just rap, the city is becoming generic ass fukk.

But it goes beyond simple shyt like NY nikkas not supporting each other. Look at how much the battle rap scene is flourishing. That couldn't happen without support.

But getting an NY artist to cross over to the national mainstream is pretty much a dead mission... other regions went from loving + respecting us to hating us and reveling in finally having the national stage. Machines won't support us because they can either get actual down south artists instead of our imitations, or if we have something legit we either dont have the know how or the fanbase in place to get them to commit. Or in the case of these nikkas we just aren't good enough, and rely on a crispy sharp image to mask the genericness. But at the end of the day u can have a music video produced by Stephen Spielberg... at the end of the day if fans dont connect with the music it doesn't matter. nikkas got a couple of EOS 5DIIs and all of a sudden they next to blow? Nah....

The city cleaning up is hurting too... these nikkas are not battle tested or street weathered... they come off as boring and safe, as opposed to a nikka like ODB. In the long run its for the better.
