Embattled Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller isn't just in legal trouble in Colorado stemming from traffic violations.
Court records in Orange County, Calif., show Miller, who is serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, did not appear for a court appearance in July 2012, leading to an open warrant.
Miller was cited for speeding above 65 MPH on March 8, 2012, according to online court records.
Denver Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth told USA TODAY Sports the team was aware of the report of the warrant in California. "We are looking into it," Smyth said.
The warrant was first reported Wednesday evening by
The Denver Post.
Miller was cited for speeding and driving on a suspended license in Arapahoe County, Colo. last week. Last month he was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in an Arapahoe County court from a traffic citation from October 2012.
Asked about that speeding ticket today, head coach John Fox said the Broncos
are not happy with Miller.
"Everyone here has an individual responsibility to not only themselves but to this organization as well as to this football team. It's something we're not pleased about, and we'll leave it at that," Fox said.
Miller, the No. 2 pick in the 2011 draft, has 30 sacks in his first two season in the NFL. The traffic issues should not impact the six-game suspension already levied by the NFL, though commissioner Roger Goodell has broad power to punish players for incidents that reflect poorly on the league.
