The i-MiEV has a 62 mile range on a full charge. That's even shorter than the eGolf!!! :camby: I could not get to work one-way, literally, with that range.

It's the Golf with an all-electric motor. It's not a hybrid. :lupe:

It has a 70-90 mile range on one charge. :camby:

I would be charging twice a day during the weekdays. :camby:

To go on a road trip, I would be getting off the freeway like every hour. :camby:

100% electric cars arent built for road trips. The Chevy VOLT (hybrid) would be your best option there because it alternates between gas and electric when one is exhausted. 100% electric cars like that and the Leaf are build for everyday commuters who drive about 30 miles or less from home to work

I'm an everyday commuter with a 65 mile one-way trip so the i_Miev and eGolf are not feasible. It sucks but I do whats I's got's to do's. :sadbron:
I'm happier driving a sub-compact car with gas motor. It gets about 8 MPG more than a mid-size car and about 10 MPG less than a hybrid.

THe Chevy VOLT has been demonized by republicans because of the bail out of GM but based on what i see it would fit you

  • Volt can charge over night and drive 45 miles off one charge.
  • After 45 miles the Gas engine takes over because the Electrical Engine's battery will be low by then
  • As the gas engine is powering the car it is also CHARGING the Electrical Engine's battery for the next time it needs to take over
  • Once the Battery is completly recharged by the gas engine the Electrical engine takes over again.
Until there are better alternative i would say this is one heck of aoption for commuters

Actually, I've never heard of the Chevy Volt being demonized by anyone anywhere.
I know hybrids are out there.
It's actually cheaper for me to buy a gas-powered sub-compact plus the gasoline for it for 10 years than a hybrid car plus the gasoline for it for 10 years minus the tax deductions.

I don't really care about political opinions in relation to the car I want to drive.

Me neither it was so deep that these fukkwads were scraping for any automotive expert they could find that would be willing to put their rep on the line by shytting on it.
For a sec they had me thinking it was a crappy product too. Until i went to an auto show and spoke to people that owened it and had me like :ohhh:
