Jamaica is in a state of shock as Vybz Kartel was found guilty of murder. The 38-year-old Dancehall artist,
real name Adidja Palmer, and three other men were found guilty in the death of Clive “Lizard” Williams reports the Jamaica Observer. The two-month trial came to a close on Thursday afternoon at Jamaica’s Home Circuit court.

Kartel and the co-accused reportedly beat the 27-year-old Williams to death after one of Kartel’s guns went missing. After deliberating for nearly two hours, the jury reached a 10-1 verdict. They later returned with unanimous conviction after the judge had them review their verdict a second time. Frequent collaborators Busta Rhymes, and Junior Reid were in attendance as the verdict was given, while locals chanted for Kartel’s freedom.

Local police are currently on high-alert as there’s early reports of riots. Kartel and the three men will return to court on March 27 for sentencing.
