Depends on the video idea

I’m about to start creating content on campus

One of our first ideas we charted, budget is between 600-800 for it

It’s an investment, you’re trying to entertain or inform so u need certain things to keep the audience informed

according to the screenshots zay posted, he spent most of it on licensing c-span footage. according to his claim of $66 per second, that means he paid that much for around 37 seconds of footage.

there are multiple ways around that. if he's giving any type of analysis or making it transformative in anyway it should fall under fair use. he also could have just quoted the damn video if it was less than a minute and just cited it in his notes if he was that scared of C-SPAN coming after his video revenue. :dead:

i don't have the details on whatever video he's talking about so I can't say precisely, but to me it just sounds like he whining about the costs that he really shouldn't have had to pay and he might lack creativity to make his content transformative.

The video

only watched a minute but yeah they are using a lot of stock footage that they probably don't need. like switching every 10 seconds to new footage related to what they're talking about. to me that is unnecessary for the narrative and lacks quite a bit of creativity.

no surprise they are spending $3k, I think it can be done for less, but my guess is they lack personality to carry the video so think they need constant visuals to make up for it.
