Chicago is a segregated city with a lower cost of living than NYC. I don't buy the "chased out" story.

Whites from the midwest move here but cant afford the good neighborhoods, so they move to the hoods thus raising up the price of living causing the blacks to move out because they cant afford it. Idk if I buy that its overexaggerated. Cats talk like its a wrap for NYC. Only city worse is SF. Being that brooklyn is huge (bigger than the city of Atl) I can believe that there are still hoods though.

Thats whats been throwing me off when people say midwest. I can see rich kids from the west coast or kids from old southern money, but midwest just screams poverty to me.

While true I just dont see a high concentration where its displacing a ton of people in NYC.
